The city of La Paz is an enclave of 150,000 friendly residents, nestled on the shores of Southern Baja on the Sea of Cortez. The city borders the beautiful and tranquil Bay of La Paz, an area rich in history from the first native inhabitants through its days of pirates, Spanish conquistadors and missionaries. It is currently the capital of the State of Southern Baja (Baja California Sur), the 1000 mile-long peninsula jutting south from California and separated from mainland Mexico by the blue waters of the Sea of Cortez. As such, it is the seat of government as is the site of the university, museum and national aquarium as well as the hub for businesses such as manufacturing, textiles, and agriculture.
Don't be in a hurry. Take your time. Folks in La Paz move at a slower pace! Much of the city of La Paz still takes a traditional Mexican siesta at mid-day or lunches at one of the many 'al fresco' seafood stands then... coming out in the evenings to catch the famous La Paz sunsets to the sounds of strummed guitars and dining by candlelight or dancing in the warm Mexican evening where evening socializing over steaks, seafood, tacos, roasted pork and ice-cold concoctions has become a lifestyle!

La Paz is served by the modern Manuel Marquez de Leon International Airport (LAP) only 10 minutes from downtown and easily accessible. Daily flights arrive and depart regularly through several airlines. For many, it's a short 2-3 hour flight from several U.S. cities, or visitors fly to Cabo San Lucas 90 miles to the south of La Paz then arrange transport north to visit us.
